Is it selfish to pray for myself?

No. Praying for yourself takes nothing from anyone. A person who is drowning is not being greedy by calling out. Ask for your own healing, your own strength, your own daily bread, in your own words. If it makes it easier, add someone else to the same prayer — not because your need is unworthy on its own, but because carrying another lightens you. The tradition is full of people who asked for themselves and were not rebuked.

One psalm is simply titled a prayer of the afflicted, when he is faint and pours out his complaint — the tradition made room, by name, for the prayer that is only about you.
