A year has passed and the grief hasn't lifted. What now?
Nothing is wrong with you. Grief is not a project with a deadline, and the calendar has no authority over the heart. What usually changes is not the size of the loss but the size of the life around it, and that takes far longer than people are willing to say. Keep telling God about it plainly, including the tiredness of still telling. And let someone carry it with you a while; anniversaries are heavy and were not meant to be lifted alone.
The tradition does not rush mourning; it names its seasons — aveilut, the long grief that is allowed to take the time a heart actually takes, not the time others find convenient.
